McMaster team wins simulation competition

McMaster's Team Optlab won the Student Simulation Competition for developing a solution to traffic congestion at the Canada/US border. The competition was organized by the Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS) in collaboration with the VISUAL8 Corporation.

New parking system to improve service

McMaster's new parking strategy kicks into high gear over the summer with changes ranging from parking lots with numbers to lots with letters, increased automatic payment locations and a daily rate increase to $20 from today's $15.

Popular Science picks CPR Glove as top 10 invention

The life-saving CPR Glove designed by two electrical and biomedical engineering students at McMaster has received another recognition. Popular Science magazine has selected the CPR Glove as one of the year's top 10 inventions and featured it in their June issue. It is the only invention selected from Canada.

Storm damages trees on campus

The strong winds produced by last night's storm damaged a number of trees on campus. The storm broke branches, uprooted a pine tree and split a maple tree in half. Trees on the south side of campus were hardest hit.

Jacek honoured for outstanding service

The McMaster University Faculty Assocation (MUFA) presented political science professor Henry Jacek with a Faculty Award for Outstanding Service on May 2. The award honours faculty who have made an outstanding contribution to the University by providing exceptional service to faculty, librarians, staff, students or alumni.

Woodbridge Group donates $120,000 to Bachelor of Technology program

The Bachelor of Technology program, a Faculty of Engineering and Mohawk College joint venture, received a $120,000-boost from their recent partnership with the Woodbridge Group. This contribution will enable the establishment of The Woodbridge Group Industrial Lectureship.

Ilene Busch-Vishniac has been selected as the University's new Provost and Vice-President Academic, McMaster University President Peter George announced today. Dr. Busch-Vishniac is currently a professor of mechanical engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
