Wilson installed as chancellor at convocation

In a ceremony that featured convocation rituals stretching back more than 700 years, Lynton (Red) Wilson was helped into the heavy gold-braided robes of office by Provost Ilene Busch-Vishniac, professor Henry Jacek and Alumni president Joseph Stephen. Wilson was formally installed as the 17th chancellor of McMaster University by President Peter George this morning.

Curtis Ramey, who graduates from the commerce program at the DeGroote School of Business today, is like most new grads. He is proud he has earned his degree. He is looking for a job that is a good fit for him. He is relieved he made it through University.

Student honoured for academic, extra-curricular success

More than 1,000 students will cross the stage at Hamilton Place to receive their degrees today as part of McMaster's Fall Convocation. Fourth-year philosophy and political science student Lauren Cowl will receive one of McMaster's most prestigious awards: the Chancellor's Gold Medal, which recognizes a student in his/her final year who ranks highest in scholarship, leadership and influence.

New chancellor, honorary graduands to be installed at convocation

In a colourful ceremony steeped in tradition, Lynton (Red) Wilson will be inducted as the 17th chancellor of McMaster University during the Fall Convocation. The ceremony will take place today at 9:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of Hamilton Place.

Poinsettia fundraiser to support MacWheelers program

The MacWheelers exercise and wellness program offers specialized twice-weekly exercise training for adults with spinal cord injury (SCI) living in the Hamilton community. It is the only program of its kind in the city, located in the Centre for Health Promotion and Rehabilitation at McMaster University.

Student art installation celebrates inquiry

Students working in the Mills Learning Commons now have a piece of art on the wall to inspire them. The painting by fourth-year student Laura Zajacz (Combined Art and Multimedia) was the winning submission in an art competition sponsored by the Library and organized in partnership with the School of the Arts. The theme of the competition for 2006/2007 was "inquire."

Witelson joins Gallery of Distinction

Dr. Sandra Witelson, a McMaster University neuroscientist who is renowned for her work studying the brain, was honoured by the City of Hamilton last night when she was inducted into the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction.
