Competition puts engineering students to the test

Photo by Susan Bubak.”]More than 240 of the best and brightest engineering students from across Ontario will be competing in the 29th annual Ontario Engineering Competition at McMaster University from Feb. 8 to 10.
Events include the popular Innovative Design competition, which has witnessed such inventions as the CPR Glove, last year's winning project. There is also the gruelling Senior Design and Consulting Engineering competition with students working through the night to complete an assigned design challenge. Other competitions include Junior Design, Parliamentary Debate and Engineering Communications.
A Career Fair will be held with participation from sponsoring companies, including Hatch, Research in Motion, Ontario Power Generation and many others.
Competitions are open to the public and free of charge. Community officials are expected to attend the competitions on Saturday.

Participating universities include McMaster University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Carleton University, University of Ontario Institute of Technology along with many others.
The Ontario Engineering Competition was established in 1980 by the Queens University Engineering Society and has evolved into a major event within the engineering community.
