New business pitch competition seeks entries

The newly established McMaster Nicol Entrepreneurship Challenge is looking for McMaster students ready to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.
The business pitch competition was created to recognize, celebrate and champion the entrepreneurial spirit, focusing on bringing together the best and brightest up-and-coming entrepreneurs in the country.
Entrants have four minutes to pitch their business concept to a panel of judges. The top three teams share $6,000 in prizes and qualify to compete in the regional LaunchPad $50k Competition. Winners of that competition then go on to compete at the National Wes Nicol Entrepreneurial Competition in Ottawa.
The McMaster Nicol Entrepreneurship Challenge is organized and hosted by the Xerox Centre for Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. It is sponsored by Wes Nicol, founder of Tartan Homes and an Ottawa-based legal firm practicing in real estate and commercial law
Registration can be done online. A one-page business plan summary must then be submitted to tarekss@mcmaster.ca, director of the McMaster Nicol Entrepreneurship Challenge.
The competition is being held on Friday, Feb. 8 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in the McMaster University Student Centre, Room 311.
