Nine aboriginals among 145 new doctors graduating today

A total of 145 new doctors will graduate at the Faculty of Health Sciences spring convocation at Hamilton Place on Friday, May 22. Among that group are nine aboriginal doctors, including valedictorian Patricia Farrugia. Prior to convocation, the students will attend the morning Oath Ceremony, where they will be welcomed by a native drumming circle. An elder from Six Nations will also be present.

$30 million for McMaster-led study on aging

The Government of Canada today announced $30 million for a new study, led by a McMaster researcher, that will increase the understanding of common health problems affecting seniors. David Sweet, Member of Parliament for Ancaster-Dundas-Flamborough-Westdale, made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health.
