Ontario continues to welcome international students

International applicants and students are being reached to help clarify reports that Ontario wanted to change provincial access for international students.

McMaster’s international student community makes our university one of the most vibrant and diverse campuses in the world.

“We are getting in touch with our international applicants and students to help clarify reports that Ontario wanted to change provincial access for international students. The government of Ontario has confirmed that it has not asked the federal government to temporarily exclude study permit holders from entering Ontario,” said Sean Van Koughnett, associate vice-president, Students and Learning and Dean of Students.

“This clarification is very helpful as we continue to welcome international students to McMaster. We would like to reassure those who are considering offers to McMaster that Ontario’s doors are open.”

McMaster has had a comprehensive quarantine plan in place for international students since November which focuses on student and community safety and requires strict adherence to COVID safety protocols. The university has had no COVID outbreaks on campus.

McMaster Provost, Susan Tighe’s recent letter to our student community provides information about the university’s planning for Fall 2021.
