Study looks to find if soap is best for cleaning wounds

When broken bones pierce the skin, the chance of infection is a doctor's number one concern. McMaster University researchers have a hunch something as simple, and cheap, as mild soap could do a better job of preventing infection than the decades-old practice of flushing dirt out of a wound with saline.

Seven professors to be honoured by Royal Society of Canada

Chris Wood of the Department of Biology is one of seven professors to be honoured by the Royal Society of Canada, the organization announced recently in releasing its annual list of new fellows. It is the largest contingent of McMaster faculty to receive awards in a single year, bringing to 70 the number of faculty members who have been invited to join the Society.

Russell journals are the first in McMaster’s Digital Commons

When Ken Blackwell was hired as the Bertrand Russell archivist at McMaster in 1968, he was asked to investigate "a computer-based catalogue" to provide better access to Russell scholarship. Little did he know that almost 40 years later, he would be completing the digitization of more than 35 years of Russell scholarship through McMaster's Digital Commons.
