Wednesday: Innovation Showcase 2012

McMaster University is bringing together top researchers on water, nutrition and health for Innovation Showcase 2012 – a day-long event which will focus on the economic and social value of scientific discoveries.

The Showcase takes place Wednesday, June 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., CIBC Hall (3rd floor), at the McMaster University Student Centre.

This year’s keynote speaker is Stephen Graham, chief marketing officer for Maple Leaf Foods, who will discuss the challenges of meeting changing consumer demands, and the steps the company is taking to provide consumers with healthier and more convenient food choices.

Graham will also highlight why the company chose Hamilton for its largest and most technologically-advanced facility, expected to be operational in the spring of 2014. Graham’s address will take place at 1 p.m.

“This year, with a focus on health, nutrition and water, we are particularly excited about the outcomes,” says Mo Elbestawi, McMaster’s vice president, research & international affairs.

”We’ve placed great importance on these areas, as we recognize the power and potential of this research in ensuring healthier populations and stronger economies locally, national and internationally,” he says.
