T4 tax slips now available by download on Mosaic

Employees can now download tax slips from the Mosaic system for 2018. New this year, T4 slips will only be available online and not distributed by mail.

“Online tax slips allow for secure, instant delivery for employees,” says Franca Berti-Bogojevic, Director of McMaster Human Resources Services and Systems. “This also helps with record retention because employees can see past years on Mosaic, and online download reduces the university’s carbon footprint by eliminating mass printing and delivery.”

Recent amendments to the Income Tax Act now allow employers to use electronic distribution of T4 tax slips. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) recognizes electronic delivery as a valid means of providing tax slips to individuals. T4s issued by McMaster Human Resources are sent directly to the Canada Revenue Agency, so employees can also log on to their CRA account and get the details there if they prefer.

Employee T4 Statement of Remuneration Paid:

  • Employees can view and download T4s by logging in to Mosaic, visiting the employee self-service section and selecting the T4 tile. Browser pop-ups must be allowed.

  • Employee groups without regular online access such as Hospitality Services, Housing and Conference Services and Facilities Services can attend Human Resources Services open office hours for assistance if required. Contact your HR representative for details.
  • Faculty of Health Sciences employees without regular online access should contact their HR representative if they require assistance.

Additional tax slips for students, special employee arrangements and independent contractors (T4A/T4ANR and T2202A):

  • Graduate students receiving scholarships, clinical faculty receiving stipends and others receiving T4A slips for employment or bursary income should check their consent to receive slips online in Mosaic. T4A information is also available for download on Mosaic and these slips will also be sent across to the CRA for individuals to access through their personal CRA account.
  • Independent contractors will receive finance-issued T4A or T4ANR (non-resident) slips by mail as applicable.
  • Student T4A, Donor Receipts and T2202A Tuition and Enrolment Certificates will be available via the Mosaic student centre by February 28, 2019.
