Study recruiting caregiver-employees

Are you one of the 5.6 Million Canadians who is a Caregiver-Employee?

Caregiver-employees are family members and other significant people who provide unpaid care and assistance to adult individuals (parent, spouse or life partner, adult child, sibling, or friend) living with debilitating physical, mental, or cognitive conditions while also engaging in paid employment. A caregiver-employee could be, for example, a son or daughter providing care for a parent with Alzheimer’s disease while also employed full-time.  There are more than 5.6 million employees in Canada with adult/elder care responsibilities.  Lack of workplace support can result in caregiver-employees leaving the workforce, and/or missed work days, early retirements, reduced productivity and avoidable costs to employers.  Led by Dr. Allison Williams, a Research Chair in Gender, Work & Health, McMaster University is a research site for a study on caregiver-employees and how the workplace can better support them.  We are on our last lap with recruiting full-time staff and faculty of McMaster University who provide unpaid care to an adult family member or friend who is elderly, disabled or ill.  If you meet this description, you are invited to participate in a study about your experiences.  For more information and to review the consent form, please visit: http://ghw.mcmaster.ca/updates/mcmaster-employees-needed-research-study    For more information or to participate, please contact Jelena Atanackovic at atanacj@mcmaster.ca or 905-525-9140 x28617.
