Student Open Circles: Planetarium Show & Information Session


Enjoy a tour of the Universe at the McMaster Planetarium, hear stories from students about how their involvement in Student Open Circles has affected them and interact with current students and our board of directors at the reception after the event.

Student Open Circles is a charitable organization that connects McMaster University students with volunteer placements in the Hamilton community. We also engage students from diverse backgrounds in reflection about personal values, spirituality and social justice through weekly discussion groups and events.

This event is free and will not include a financial appeal.

Parking on Campus:

  • Enter campus at Sterling Street or use  or the main entrance off of Main Street West.
  • Proceed towards the lot: if you entered from Sterling turn right at the first opportunity, and if you entered from Main then turn left.
  • Electronic signage outside the entrance to the lots will indicate the availability of spaces for visitors in the lot. If the LED indicator for visitors reads “open”, you may proceed to the entry gate.
  • Obtain a ticket when you enter the lot.
  • When you are returning to your vehicle, take ticket to the Pay Station and insert ticket into slot. Follow instructions on the pay station.

Other Transportation Options:

  • Bicycle parking is available for free throughout the campus.
  • HSR bus routes 5, 10, 51, and 52 will drop you off on campus, or on Main St. W. by the main entrance.
  • Street parking is available in the surrounding neighbourhoods (involves a 5-10 minute walk to campus). In some cases parking fees or time limits are relaxed after 5pm, but please check the posted signs carefully to avoid a fine.

Once inside the main entrance the Burke Science Building (BSB), walk up the flight of stairs, across the foyer and a little way down the corridor directly ahead. On the right is a double set of doors leading to stairs. Go down the stairs, exiting into the corridor through another set of double doors, and then making a left. The planetarium is on your left.
