The woman’s rugby team may hold CIS gold, but this weekend they proved themselves champions for another reason. Members of the team spent their Saturday afternoon doing what most successful athletes do: working out. However, this workout session was far different from others like it. Instead of running laps and lifting weights, athletes and students affiliated with the team spent hours doing burpees, which are an exercise that combines push-ups and jump squats, for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The event titledwas highlighted by Kinesiology student and trainer for the rugby team Meaghan Toll, who spent 10 hours doing 3085 burpees and personally raised $3085 to combat breast cancer.
