Statement regarding alt-right posters

Yesterday morning a number of “alt-right” posters appeared on campus and at a number of other locations around the City. University custodial and security staff immediately began removing them and samples of the posters have been provided to Hamilton Police Services for investigation.

McMaster is committed to building a safe and inclusive environment, free from acts of harassment, intimidation or discrimination of any kind. “As a community we bear a shared responsibility to uphold the values of respect and collegiality that are fundamental to the academy and to recognize the anxiety and apprehension that incidents of this type can cause”, said President Patrick Deane. The Equity and Inclusion Office is available to provide support and assistance to all members of our community. Any further instances of “alt-right” posters should be reported to Security Services.
