Smart Commute offers services to help you try a new way to travel to work

McMaster University is a proud member of the Smart Commute Hamilton network. Smart Commute helps individuals find alternative commuting options to get to and from work.

Smart Commute offers a number of services to help you try a new way to travel:

Ride-matching tool to help employees find someone who has a similar commute or destination – you can search by location (address) or by organization.
Emergency Ride Home Program that provides commuters at Smart Commute workplaces reimbursement up to $75.00 for transportation used during unplanned events and emergencies. This gives commuters peace of mind when they choose carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, cycling and walking. Commuters who use a sustainable mode of travel to commute are eligible to have their emergency travel costs reimbursed.
Online resources for walking or biking to work.
Prizes and incentives to use try a new way to get to work:
- If you’ve registered with Smart Commute, receive a chance to win one of prizes for each sustainable trip you log.
- Complete the Smart Commute Month Annual Travel Survey for a chance to win one of two $250.00 VIA Rail gift cards, and many other prizes!
