SACHA, YWCA issue recommendations on ending violence against women

McMaster has received a number of recommendations from a working group analyzing ways to end violence against women.

A number of University officials, including President Patrick Deane, were on hand at a campus event held June 25 to receive the eight recommendations.

They were compiled by the coordinators of the It’s Time Project, a partnership between the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton and Area and YWCA Hamilton using funding from the federal government.

“The safety and security of the entire McMaster community is a key priority,” said Deane. “I look forward to considering these recommendations in detail, and am delighted that a number of them are already being implemented.”

The recommendations include training for student leaders, a campus-wide education campaign and the establishment of a working group of the President’s Advisory Committee on Building an Inclusive Community.
