Residence move out

More than 3,000 students will move out of residence between Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 30, 2015.

During these days there will be an increase in traffic on the roadways near the residences in both the north and west quads, especially between 12-7pm.

University staff and students who travel the roadway and/or park in Lot E (opposite McKay Hall & Commons Building), Lot G (opposite Woodstock and Hedden Halls) and by Les Prince Hall will find these areas particularly congested.

To avoid the general increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic in this area, staff members are strongly encouraged to park in the Underground Stadium parking lot. Between April 21 & April 30, transponder holders to lots E and G will be permitted to park at the Underground Stadium parking lot. Exam parking for students will also be the Underground lot.

Move out parking attendants wearing orange safety vests will be directing traffic in lots E, G and designated areas close to residence from April 21-29 from 12 – 7 pm & between 9 am and 3 pm on April 30. These student attendants will ensure that visiting cars do not block roadways, fire lanes, or pedestrian walkways.

Pedestrians in the west quad should also note that cars will be allowed to drive to Moulton, Matthews, and Wallingford Halls along the emergency roadway north and east of Mary Keyes Residence and will stop in designated areas to load personal belongings. Student attendants will ensure that cars move safely in one direction only and do not block emergency vehicle access.

Parking and Security Services have assisted in the preparation of the move out plan to ensure that the residence move out will run smoothly. Your patience through this process is appreciated.

Thank you for ensuring our students have a positive move out experience and departure from McMaster residence.
