March 31 is the International Trans Day of Visibility, dedicated to celebrating trans people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide.

McMaster University has raised the trans flag above University Hall to mark the day.

“Today we not only celebrate transgender individuals and their contributions to our community, but reflect on and raise awareness of the discrimination faced by trans people around the world,” says acting AVP of Equity and Inclusion Sonia Anand.

“We’re committed to making McMaster a safe, welcoming and respectful place for our trans and gender-diverse community members.”
