GO bus service suspended due to transit strike

Note: This article was originally posted Nov. 6 and was updated Nov. 8, 2022.

The union representing Metrolinx GO Transit bus drivers is on strike, which has shut down regional bus service. GO trains and Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) buses continue to operate as usual.

During the strike, McMaster students, faculty and staff  who normally take the GO bus to attend campus will need to make alternative arrangements. No date has been set for service to resume.

All McMaster community members are asked to plan for extra time to get to campus or other locations until the strike ends. Please stay informed with news from GO Transit Bus.

Connect with your instructor or supervisor if you have concerns.

Everyone is encouraged to be kind to others, flexible and considerate of the impact this will have on our students, faculty and staff who use the GO bus to commute to campus.

Please consider alternative transportation options, such as carpooling with a colleague or friend.

Limited visitor parking options are available on campus. Most of the visitor parking is available in Lots M and P in the west campus. More information including a parking map and rates are available on Parking Services website.

Those with Ward Avenue monthly  parking passes are encouraged to temporarily return to parking in the Ward Avenue lot to help create spaces for those without monthly passes if there is an increase in demand. There will be no shuttle buses from Ward Avenue. Visitor parking is not available at the Ward Avenue lot (Lot W).
