Possible HSR strike

You may have heard that there is the possibility of a strike by HSR transit, which operates city buses in Hamilton. The City of Hamilton and union representing transit workers are continuing negotiations aimed at reaching a new contract. The earliest possible strike date is Thursday, April 9.

While there is still time for the parties to reach a new contract, it is important for McMaster students and staff to be prepared for a possible disruption in bus service.

McMaster is working on a plan to help ease the impact of a strike. But if there is a service disruption, you can expect longer commute times to and from campus and increased traffic throughout the city.

Students and staff are encouraged to begin making plans now. These plans could include car pooling with other students or staff, car sharing, finding someone else to drop you off on campus, or considering other modes of transportation such as walking, cycling or GO Transit.
