Police investigation into online threat unsubstantiated


On Saturday October 17, 2015, just before 1:00pm, the Hamilton Police Service received information about a possible threat made towards campus safety at McMaster University in the City of Hamilton.

The threat was found posted on the Internet and reported to police. In response, the Hamilton Police Service, in partnership with McMaster University increased police and security presence on campus Saturday as the investigation into the threat commenced.

On Saturday evening, the Hamilton Police Service identified the individual who posted the threat on the Internet. A 16-year-old male from Petersburgh, Ontario, was located and questioned by Hamilton Police Service investigators. It was determined that the threat made by the 16 year old male was determined to be unsubstantiated.

The investigation is still ongoing with charges pending.
