Participants needed for study on racism in Ontario

James Baker, Banting Postdoctoral Fellow, Department of Sociology, McMaster University, is currently conducting a research study to examine white youth observations of racism in Ontario. Participants should identify primarily as white/Caucasian, be an undergraduate student enrolled at McMaster University or its affiliates, be between the ages of 18-25, and be born in Ontario. The observations must be something you witnessed yourself – it should not be a story told to you by a friend/family member, not something you saw on television/in a movie; read in a book, magazine or newspaper, experienced/witnessed in another province, etc. To compensate you for your time (40-50 minute interview), you will receive a $25 gift card. More information on the project can be found at: http://www.jamesbaker.ca/sshrc.html.

The project is funded by grants from the Leslie Harris Centre for Regional Policy and Development at Memorial University and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council/Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. This study has been reviewed by the McMaster University Research Ethics Board and received ethics clearance. If you have concerns or questions about your rights as a participant or about the way the study is conducted, please contact: McMaster Research Ethics Secretariat, (905) 525-9140 ext. 23142 or email at ethicsoffice@mcmaster.ca.
