Parking transponder exchange program

Parking Services will be replacing gate antennae equipment over the summer and introducing new transponders in order to improve the level of service and address reported transponder functionality issues with the current product.

This change will only affect transponder holders.

The installation of new gate equipment will take place from May 24th to June 2nd. There will be no change or disruption to your current parking access rights and you will continue to gain access to the same lot/s currently designated to you.

Visitor parking will not be available during the installation period for each lot; visitors will be directed to alternate lots for parking.

New transponders will be available on weekdays from May 16th to June 2nd at selected locations close to your parking lot. For a full schedule of dates for installation to all university lots and pick up locations, please visit: http://parking.mcmaster.ca/early_pickup.html for early pick up and http://parking.mcmaster.ca/during.html for pick up during installation. Transponders will also be available at the parking office (either ETC or Campus Store location) during regular office hours on or after May 16th.

You will need to keep your current 3M transponder until the installation process is complete. Please keep this affixed on your vehicle during this transition period.

You will be required to present either your Working at McMaster photo ID card or driver’s license for identification purposes before a new transponder can be provided to you. Permit holders will only receive one transponder until the installation process is complete. If you have purchased additional transponders in the past, please attend the parking office (either ETC or Campus Store location) on or after June 6th and our staff will assist you. You will be provided with as many new transponders as 3M transponders with a record of payment.

If you are not present on the scheduled date of the install at your designated lot, you can obtain your new transponder at our office at any time during regular office hours on or after May 16th.

The new transponder will be a ‘window button’ and can be transferred from vehicle to vehicle. For information on how to affix this to your vehicle, please refer to: http://parking.mcmaster.ca/documents/Window%20Button_InstallGuide_V2%200_English.pdf Please donot affix this transponder on top of your 3M transponder.

Once the installation is complete, please drop off your 3M transponder at the bins located at your parking lot. 3M sticker transponders do not have to be returned.

Our staff is here to serve you to the best of our ability, and we thank you for your patience during this transition.

Thank you.
