November Career Month workshops – registration now open

November is Canada Career Month, and we will be celebrating here at McMaster with a series of workshops to help you manage your career.

Managing your career is not an option these days – it’s a necessity, especially in a dynamic and changing workplace. Career management requires specific skills and activities applicable to all career-life stages.

Simply put, you need to take a proactive approach by answering the following questions: Who am I? What do I want? and How do I get there? These insights will help you map the best route for the future.

Please join us for one, two or all three sessions to learn how knowing yourself is key to managing and building your career. Register online using the links below. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Who Am I? – Tues. Nov. 5, 12:00 – 1:30: Your career is an incredibly personal journey. Despite the evolving expectations that others may have of you, it is imperative to take a step back, focus on, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. In this introductory session, you will gain strong foundational knowledge of the concept of self-awareness, and how it can be used as a tool to self-motivate, make sound decisions, and gain insight into your personality, attitudes, and behaviours.
Facilitator: Kyle Armstrong, Program Coordinator, Engagement & Wellness

What Do I Want? – Tues. Nov. 12, 12:00-1:30: In this session, gain insights into your work preferences and values to help guide your career exploration. You will learn more about how assessments can be used to understand your work preferences. Take charge of your career and gain an understanding of what you really want!
Facilitator: Christine Costa, Organizational Development & Design Consultant

How Do I Get There? – Tues. Nov. 19, 12;00 – 1:30: This session will take you through important planning skills and activities: leveraging self-awareness, conducting purposeful research, exploring and deciding on options. Discover how these activities lead to engaging career conversations that will propel your career development.
