Nominations now open for: President’s Awards for Outstanding Service

Nominations are now open for the President’s Awards for Outstanding Service in 2018. McMaster community members are asked to identify employees who have contributed above and beyond during the 2018 calendar year. Please consider those who are consistently outstanding in their service and/or innovation; or, who repeatedly enhance our University’s reputation through their outstanding work.

The President’s Awards for Outstanding Service were introduced to acknowledge employees who are:

  • Non-teaching members of the University community;
  • Full or part-time employees from operations, research and ancillary departments or units of McMaster University and;
  • Employed on a continuing basis or for a term or contract of one or more year’s duration

A maximum of ten awards to individuals or groups (with a maximum of two group awards) along with up to one lifetime achievement award are offered. The nominees and award recipients are acknowledged for their achievements through posters located across campus, the President’s Awards website, and at the awards ceremony.

In addition, based on committee feedback, a new Rising Star Award has been added this year. A maximum of one (1) Rising Star Award may be granted to an individual who was not selected as an Individual Award recipient. This award was created to recognize an employee who is new to their role and has provided excellent service beyond that expected for the position they hold. The award recognizes their tenacity and motivation to grow, develop, and lead in their role. Recommendations for this special recognition are provided by the Advisory Committee and are awarded at the sole discretion of the President.  The award may or may not be granted in any given year.

Please help us recognize and honour McMaster’s outstanding staff members by taking the time to complete a nomination.

The submission process is straightforward. Any member of the McMaster community can be a nominator. For further information about the awards criteria and the nomination process, visit the program website at
