New Information Technology Student Advisory Committee launches!

This September, McMaster’s Information Technology Student Advisory Committee (ITSAC) will launch, providing provide a forum for students to discuss current technology priorities and new IT initiatives, directly influencing decisions and investments. Members of the committee include representatives from student organizations across campus and the general student population.

“The IT Student Advisory Committee will be an essential channel for ensuring students have meaningful input and involvement in our enhancement of the IT experience at McMaster. I’m looking forward to engaging with the committee, especially as we begin to deliver on the McMaster IT Strategic plan we will launch in the fall semester” says Gayleen Gray, Assistant Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer.

The committee will meet monthly during the Fall and Winter terms. At the end of each year, the ITSAC will provide a report to Senior Management, outlining recommendations and feedback on the IT services at McMaster. The report will be available on the AVP and CTO website, along with the ITSAC’s Terms of Reference.

The ITSAC is intended to provide regular input to IT Governance committees and will:

  • Create a platform for students to advise on their technology needs, priorities, and concerns
  • Establish a channel for communication between students and IT service providers
  • Build relationships between the student organizations and IT units and departments on campus
  • Assist with testing new products and/or review new services before they are announced to campus community
  • Share what they learn with their peer groups
