Network improvements update

UTS is about to launch a large project to upgrade the campus network. This project was initiated based on valuable feedback received from the McMaster community in the IT Services Review and was recently approved by the IT Executive (IT Governance) committee.

Approximately one third of the buildings across campus will receive network equipment upgrades throughout 2018. This equipment is critical for the future viability of the network and will ensure additional growth and enhancements can be implemented for vital technology and infrastructure, including the wireless network, research computing, telephone systems, and facilities services such as access control and surveillance systems.

UTS is planning most of the project activity to take place on weekends to minimize impact to the community. A detailed schedule of installations in each building will be available in the coming weeks, and specific dates will be communicated to known groups, departments and faculties located in the impacted buildings. Regular project updates will be provided to the full campus community. Thank you in advance for supporting this important initiative.
