McMaster expands and enhances sexual violence training and education

McMaster is expanding its training and supports around sexual violence prevention and education (including Welcome Week and year-round programming).

The University has invested in an expanded Equity and Inclusion team with many years’ experience and this team now has the capacity to deliver Welcome Week training and other components of the program – with experts embedded within this McMaster office.

The expanded program includes training in August and September for Residence Life community advisors, Residence Orientation advisors and Representatives and Welcome Week reps. It includes content focusing on defining sexual violence and consent, dispelling myths that perpetuate sexual violence, identifying barriers to disclosing and reporting and most importantly how to recognize, respond and refer disclosures of sexual violence and support survivors.

McMaster continues to work with invited external partners including the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton (SACHA) to provide supports and services to the community.
