McMaster creatives invited to submit stories, poems and photos to annual contests

Do you enjoy creative writing? Making poetry? Taking photographs? If so, McMaster Alumni has an excellent opportunity for you.

McMaster community members are invited to submit their short stories, poems and photos to ‘The Creative Act: Writing and Photography Contests.’ The theme of this year’s annual contest is nostalgia and all entries should reflect this. Participants have the chance to win a $500 gift card in each of the three contest categories.

For the short story contest, participants are asked to create a fictional short story that is 2,000 to 2,500 words in length.

Poetry contest participants are asked to create a poem that is a maximum of 40 lines (excluding the title).

Lastly, photography contest entrants are asked to submit a photo along with a one sentence caption. Editing of the photo is acceptable.

Each contest will be judged by a panel made up of McMaster community members such as staff, faculty, student leaders and alumni, who will then select one winner from each division.

The deadline for all submissions is August 31st, 2022, at 11:59 PM. For more information and to submit your creations, please click here.
