IT Notice: Spoofing of McMaster Executive Email
Members of the community have reported receiving emails today purporting to be from David Farrar, acting president and vice-chancellor.
- The subject of the message is “McMaster University Re-Evaluated and Up to Date Responsible Use of Technology Resources For David Farrar”
- Attached to the message is a .PDF file named “McMaster University Shared Document.pdf”
The attachment is a Trojan Horse virus that downloads malware from a malicious website.
If you received this message, please report it to is-spam@mcmaster.ca, then delete it.
If you opened the file your system should be scanned immediately for malware. Please contact your IT support unit or the UTS Service Desk at uts@mcmaster.ca for assistance.
