Important IT information for return to campus from University Technology Services

McMaster’s University Technology Services (UTS) is advising students, faculty and staff who are returning to campus for the fall semester to take note of the following information.

Remote UTS Client Support Services:

UTS Client Support Services will be provided remotely for the Fall 2021 semester. The UTS Client Support Service Desk located in BSB 245 will remain closed during this time. Likewise, the Service Desk in Mills Library Commons area will not be staffed.

Updated signage has been placed in high-traffic service areas to remind and encourage the McMaster community to access remote UTS support (via self-service, Chat, Phone). The UTS Live Chat feature is the quickest and easiest way to access the IT support you need.

Extended Client Support Hours will begin Monday, Aug. 23.

  • Mon – Thurs 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Friday  8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

In some circumstances, in-person assistance may be arranged by appointment only by UTS staff. Please note: faculty/departmental IT units may operate differently

UTS-managed computer labs:

UTS-managed computer labs will also be supported remotely. Issues should be reported to the remote Client Services Support team, which will then be escalated to the Lab Team for resolution.

Lab users will be responsible for cleaning shared equipment before and after use using the cleaning supplies provided. Lab equipment will be checked once per week. Updated signage noting all contact information will be placed in the labs.
