Get engaged in the Hamilton community and receive funding

Join us on Oct 2, 6 to 8 p.m. in CIBC hall (3rd floor of MUSC) for our information session and learn more about how you can get engaged in the Hamilton community.

We’re looking for students, student groups and community members to get involved in the Engage! Program, a new initiative that gives students the chance to learn about and get involved in some of the emerging issues in Hamilton, specifically social welfare, domestic violence and high school bullying.

Through the Engage! Program, students will work with McMaster experts well as with local organisations such as the Social Research & Planning Council (SPRC) and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction to learn about some of the issues facing Hamilton.

Students will then have the opportunity to propose their own engagement ideas.

Students whose proposals are selected will receive $500 to implement their ideas, and will work with our community partners to develop their engagement idea.

At this event participants will:

  • Hear from experts from SPRC, the Good Sheppard and the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty reduction and participate in workshops designed to examine these issues further.
  • Learn more about how to apply for $500 to sponsor their own engagement proposal in Hamilton.
  • Come out with a greater appreciation for these issues and a better understanding of how they can become involved in the Hamilton community.

Please join is at this event and find out how you can make a positive contribution to your local community.

*The Engage! Program is supported through a Forward with Integrity grant.
