Funding now available for experiential learning initiatives

A total of $75,000 is now available to faculty and staff in a second round of funding aimed at supporting the development and expansion of experiential learning opportunities at McMaster.

The Experiential Learning in Academic Programming (ELAP) grantled by the Office of Community Engagement in partnership with the MacPherson Institute – will provide successful applicants with up to $5000 to build experiential learning components into course and academic program offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Experiential learning opportunities could include field experiences, research practica, and placements. Special consideration will be given to courses and programs in non-professional programs, where historically there have been fewer experiential learning opportunities compared to programs offered in Health Sciences and STEM disciplines.

In addition, there will be an emphasis on graduate courses and courses that involve placements in industry or in community-based organizations.

All activities supported by this grant must begin in Fall 2018, or Winter 2019. Successful applicants will be required to share outcomes and learnings.
