Faculty researchers place in national video competition

Videos submitted by McMaster researchers have captured two of three runner-up positions in the 2016 IHDCYH Talks Video Competition.

Student or independent researchers were asked to submit short videos demonstrating the value and impact of research on children, youth and families for The Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH) Talks video competition, which encourages public interest, innovation and collaboration.

Winners were chosen based on the number of ‘likes’ received on their videos.

One video runner-up focused on the first five years of infancy and the lifelong effects of a stable foundation versus an unstable foundation and the potential problems that could arise. This video was prepared by Magdalena Janus, professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and the Offord Centre.

The other video runner-up focused on the South Asian Birth Cohort Sub-Study on optimal perinatal health behaviours from the perspectives of grandmothers. The video was created by MSc student Sujane Kandasamy.
