Email caution banners being implemented June 1, 2023

Starting on June 1st, 2023, McMaster University will be implementing email caution banners in Microsoft Outlook for all students, staff, and faculty.

Email caution banners are messages that appear at the top of an email to alert the recipient that the email may have originated from outside the university.

The purpose of this measure is to increase your email security and protect you from potential hackers and phishing attempts. The banner is a reminder to be extra cautious when dealing with links and attachments in emails that may have originated from outside the university.
