Downtown Centre update – July 6


July 6 – 8:30 am The City of Hamilton reports it has fixed the problematic air conditioning system at McMaster’s Downtown Centre. Temperatures in the building are expected to return to normal values this morning. Some University staff based at the DTC may still be working from alternative locations today.

July 5 – 10:30 am The City of Hamilton continues to repair the air conditioning system at the Downtown Centre. For Thurs. July 5 most University staff are working from alternative locations. The City expects to update its progress later this afternoon.

A reminder that the Centre for Continuing Education will be closed to walk-in traffic but open for telephone and electronic communication. Continuing Ed classes will not be held at the DTC July 4, 5, and 6, however some classes are being relocated.  If you are a current student, please check Avenue2Learn regarding the status of your course.

July 4 – 2:00 pm The City of Hamilton continues its efforts to repair the air conditioning system at McMaster’s Downtown Centre. Most McMaster staff located at the Centre are working in alternative locations. It is expected it will take the rest of this week to complete repairs.

For Wed. July 4, Thurs. July 5 and Fri. July 6, the Centre for Continuing Education will be closed to walk-in traffic but open for telephone and electronic communication. July 4 – 8:00 am The City of Hamilton – owners of the Downtown Centre – continues to work on fixing the building’s air conditioning. Overnight, cool air was pumped through the building. City crews will continue today to work on the problematic chilling system. While that work is underway, alternative working arrangements have been made for University staff based at the Downtown Centre. Some will work from campus, others from different locations. Updates will continue to be posted as they develop.

July 3

3:30 p.m.: Problems persist with the Downtown Centre air conditioning. Evening classes offered by the Centre for Continuing Education are cancelled.

10:00 am An issue with air conditioning has caused some temporary changes at the Downtown  Centre. Some DTC staff will be working from campus today and others are working from  home. The air conditioning should be repaired this afternoon. Evening continuing  education classes are expected to be held as scheduled.
