Cyber security alert: Phishing campaigns targeting McMaster


McMaster’s Information Security Services team is advising students, staff and faculty to be aware of current online phishing scams.

Recent examples of phishing emails targeted at McMaster users include the following features:

  • Subject: Important Message
  • Attachment: Secure_documents.html
  • Signed by the “Accounts Team”

If you receive a suspicious message, under no circumstances should you reply to these messages or click on any links. If you have done so, please change your password immediately via https://www.myaccount.microsoft..com and contact UTS Client Services if you require assistance.

All suspicious messages should be sent to is-spam@mcmaster.ca. Registering for Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is also strongly encouraged.
