Committee begins search for McMaster’s first vice-provost, Indigenous 


McMaster University is launching the search for the inaugural vice-provost, Indigenous (VPI), a key leadership role that will guide and support the university’s commitment to reconciliation, Indigenous education, research and self-determination.

The vice-provost, Indigenous, will provide strategic leadership in advancing Indigenous priorities across the university.

This includes implementing and maintaining McMaster’s Indigenous education and research initiatives while working collaboratively with Indigenous faculty, staff, students, university groups and community partners to strengthen relationships with local Indigenous communities.

The VPI will play a critical role in fostering an inclusive academic environment and ensuring Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and self-determination are meaningfully embedded across McMaster’s policies, programs and institutional culture.

A selection committee, with representation from across McMaster and Indigenous community members, has been established to lead the search.
