Be More Than a Bystander Month

February is Be More Than a Bystander month in Hamilton. The campaign is led by Interval House of Hamilton (IHOH) and supported by community allies with a goal of eliminating gender-based violence.

The IHOHs ongoing Be More Than a Bystander program provides year-round education to youth, men, and allies to address gender-based violence through engaging in safe prevention strategies. In 2021, McMaster announced a continued partnership with IHOH to provide training to athletes and Special Constables in McMaster’s Security Services Office and department of Athletics and Recreation as part of the Be More Than a Bystander Program. Since 2016, IHOH has also partnered with other prominent local organizations such as Hamilton Bulldogs, The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, FORGE FC, and Sports Hamilton.

The Interval House of Hamilton is encouraging community partners to share about Wear Purple Day on February 7 to raise awareness about the Be More Than a Bystander campaign.
