Bargaining update – CUPE 3906 Unit 1

The university and CUPE 3906 unit 1 continue their efforts to reach a renewed collective agreement.

The unit represents approximately 2,900 part-time teaching assistants at the university.

The parties have been meeting through the summer and there is now a request for the appointment of a provincial conciliator to join the talks with a goal of finalizing an agreement.

While each set of negotiations involves issues unique to the specific employee group, McMaster negotiates with all employee groups based on a set of core principles including bargaining in good faith and committing to long-term, collaborative relationships with union partners.
