Arts grad offered job as a result of Career Field Experience Program

On May 21, Alicia Giansante, a Level 4 Honours Art and Art History student, was the first student to be offered a job as a result of participating in the Career Field Experience program co-ordinated by the Student Success Centre (SSC) in February.

Giansante participated in the program at Centre3 for Print and Media Arts under the supervision of McMaster alumna Becky Katz, the centre’s education and community arts director. Giansante made such a good impression guiding local elementary school students through programs that she was hired as a curatorial and event intern for the summer.

“It’s great that this experiential learning opportunity flowed seamlessly into entry-level employment, says Phil Williams, experiential employment co-ordinator at the SSC. “ I think the outcome illustrates that our career development programming is blossoming and that there is work in Hamilton for liberal arts graduates.”
