Applications now open for Dr. Henry Chaim Witelson Memorial Prize in Ophthalmology


2018-19 Call for Applications

McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences is pleased to accept applications for the Dr. Henry Chaim Witelson Memorial Prize in Ophthalmology.

Henry Chaim Witelson, M.D., Chief of Service in Ophthalmology, Hamilton Civic Hospitals, died in 1997. He was a devoted clinician to thousands of patients in the Hamilton region and beyond since 1969. He was founding Director of the Wentworth Eye Foundation (1979). Dr. Witelson was also a lifelong student of ophthalmology, frequently visiting other Centres and
leading surgeons in North America to learn new ideas and techniques.

His work has been memorialized by The Dr. Henry C. Witelson Memorial Ophthalmological Diagnostic Unit at Hamilton Health Sciences, McMaster University Medical Centre; The Dr. Henry C. Witelson Vitreo-Retinal Centre, Jewish General Hospital, McGill University; and The Dr. Henry C. Witelson Ophthalmic Pathology Laboratory, Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University.

The purpose of this award is to provide the opportunity for individuals to devise an elective in ophthalmology, which they might not otherwise have the ability to do.

Uo to $2,500

Eligibility
Medical students and Residents in Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University.
