Alumni, faculty travel the world together

Alison McQueen, associate professor of art history and Luke Chan, associate vice-president, International Affairs are taking their expertise and enthusiasm for their areas of study to the world. The McMaster Alumni Association has announced two exclusive travel opportunities next spring, "Spotlight on Rembrandt - Holland 2006" and "Many Faces of China" each with carefully crafted itineraries and unique enrichment programs for the McMaster community.

McMaster on the move for United Way

Employees and students braved the chill and the rain in today's second annual McMaster United Way Run/Walk. The route included a 5km run or a 3km walk through the McMaster campus. Following the race, prizes and gifts were awarded for categories of individual and team participation. The event wrapped up with light refreshments and presentations at Quarters.

Career Services helps students meet future education goals

Graduate and professional programs from as far away as Australia to as close to home as McMaster will help students meet their future educational goals on Oct. 26 and 27. More than 92 graduate and professional programs will attend McMaster's annual Continuing Education Fair, hosted by Career Services. The event will take place in the McMaster University Student Centre marketplace from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Marauders lock up fourth place with win at Toronto

The McMaster Marauders survived through tough weather and a sloppy Varsity Stadium field to defeat the Varsity Blues, 63-13, and clinch a home-playoff date this Saturday. Fifth-year receiver Vaughan Swart put the exclamation point on his fine career with five catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

Obesity pioneer to give Gairdner lecture Oct. 26

A McMaster graduate is the recipient of the 2005 Gairdner Foundation International Award Recognizing Achievement in Medical Research for his contributions to the understanding of obesity. In particular, Douglas Coleman is known for the discovery of the adipose tissue hormone, leptin, an important component in the long-term regulation of body weight.
