CD welcomes off-campus students

Tomorrow, members of the Off-Campus Experience Centre, a collaboration between the Off-Campus Resource Centre, the Society of Off-Campus Students and the Student Community Support Network, will deliver a "Welcome CD" to the homes of McMaster students living off-campus.

Website explores Peace and War in the 20th Century

The William Ready Division of Archives and Research Collections at McMaster University Library is launching the latest in a series of digital initiatives aimed at bringing its unique collections to a wider, online audience. The new site, Peace and War in the 20th Century, has been developed with the assistance of almost $100,000 in funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Memory Fund.

Marauder Plaza celebrates student support

The official opening celebration of Marauder Plaza will recognize McMaster students for their ongoing commitment and financial contributions to athletics and recreation at the University. "Without the leadership and vision of the student leaders involved in the referendum and the planning of the facility, improvements to McMaster's athletic facilities would not be possible," said Therese Quigley, director of Athletics and Recreation. "Students are enjoying the faciliies and programs that the leaders of yesterday created for the students of today."

Shorter course of radiation therapy benefits women in early stages of breast cancer

Women with early-stage breast cancer who receive a shorter, more intense course of radiation have a low risk of side effects and recurrence of the cancer more than a decade after treatment, a Canadian study has found. Researchers discovered that the shorter, three-week treatment -- called accelerated hypofractionated whole-breast irradiation -- is just as effective as the standard five-week course of radiation following surgery to remove the malignancy.
