McMaster becomes first Canadian university designated as an ESRI Development Centre

The School of Geography and Earth Sciences has a long history of teaching and research using the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) suite of products. McMaster was one of the first universities in Canada to sign an annual license agreement with the Institute, and was the first Canadian university to collaborate with a college to offer a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Consequently, McMaster was a perfect fit for the designation of ESRI Development Centre for Universities (EDC).

Giroux awarded Critics’ Choice Award for The University in Chains

Henry Giroux, the Global Television Network Chair in English and Cultural Studies, was honoured recently with the American Educational Studies Association (AESA) Critics' Choice Award for his book The University in Chains: Confronting the Military-Industrial-Academic Complex.

Titles unveils the fastest way to get a book

Don't you just hate it when you go looking for a book in a bookstore and the last copy has been plucked from the shelf? Never will you have to experience that pang of disappointment again, at least not in Titles. McMaster University's bookstore has just unveiled a print-on-demand (POD) machine that can spit out a flawless, bound paperback copy that is almost indistinguishable from the original. A 250-page paperback that was used in a test-run of the machine was completed in five minutes.
