This year, Canada's Healthy Workplace Week was expanded to a month-long celebration and promotion of healthy workplaces. The University's theme this year was “Bringing Wellness to Mind” with events focusing on mental well-being. Employees were given the opportunity to improve their wellness by participating in many activities available throughout the month.
254 employees on 35 teams participated in the Employee Health Challenge. The grand prize winners for the Challenge were chosen from the top 10 teams and top 10 individuals. The winner in the individual competition was PeiWen Chou and in the team category The Misfits took top honours.
The Healthy Workplace Ambassador Award gave employees the opportunity to nominate co-workers whom they felt made a positive difference in their workplace. Congratulations to Bronwen Wood, who was chosen as this year's recipient of the award for the personal effort she has shown in fostering health and well-being in other employees at McMaster University. Congratulations are also extended to nominees Liz Koblyk and Kenneth Norrie who were recognized for their contributions to the health and well-being of employees at McMaster University.
