Collective bargaining at McMaster

The University's bargaining team will begin collective bargaining with CAW local 555 at the end of this week. CAW represents about 2200 support and technical staff at McMaster. Formal proposals will be exchanged Friday morning.

New chair for engineering physics, XCEEI director reappointed

Harold Haugen has been appointed Chair of the Department of Engineering Physics and Rafik Loutfy has been reappointed as the Director of the Xerox Centre for Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2009.

Volunteer Profile: Jonathan Yau

For National Volunteer Week (April 19 to 25), the Daily News has compiled a selection of stories to recognize volunteers across the McMaster community. McMaster has a rich community of volunteers that contribute their time on campus, in the Hamilton community, across Canada and even internationally. Four devastating hurricanes swept through Haiti six months ago. In their wake, hundreds of lives were lost and thousands were left homeless because of the unrelenting mudslides.

Volunteer profile: Betty Ann Levy

Betty Ann Levy, chair of the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, has been a volunteer with the United Way for the past two years.
