Sponsored by McMaster, the United Nations University – International Network on Water, Environment and Health, and the World Health Organization, the workshop will bring together experts from Brazil, Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, Mozambique and Saudi Arabia to look at improving the quality of the world's water supply.
Allison Sekuler, acting vice-president of research and international affairs, says the conference will focus on the linkage between human health and well-being and the provision of safe drinking water and adequate sanitation.
“Part of the goal is to identify research gaps in the global water-health realm as well as capacity needs in developing countries and investigate new avenues for addressing policy challenges,” she says. “The other part is to create a network of experts focused on the water-health nexus to ensure there is continued dialogue and information exchange.”
The conference runs from June 9 to 11 and will be held in the Council Chamber, Gilmour Hall, Room 111. Registration is Saturday, June 9 from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the Council Chamber. Details can be found here. For further information, please call ext. 23147.
