The event, organized by the McMaster University-Westdale Campus Town Association involves teams of University alumni, students, staff and area residents working together to help reduce litter and make our neighbourhood cleaner.
“This is a great opportunity for all members of our community: alumni, students, staff and homeowners, to work together to make a difference,” says Roger Trull, McMaster's vice-president of University Advancement. “The Campus Town Association's sole purpose is to build relationships like these for the benefit of the entire community.”
On Saturday, September 13, teams will assemble at Alumni Field on the north side of campus. From there, they will fan out through Westdale and Ainslie Wood to pick up litter. Teams will return to campus for a barbecue and then take in the football game that evening as the event coincides with the official opening of the Ron Joyce Stadium.
To register, please contact John Popham at pophamje@mcmaster.ca or visit mcmaster.ca/ua/alumni/events/registration.htm. The first 100 people to register will receive a free t-shirt and ticket to the opening football game at Ron Joyce Stadium. Participants are asked to meet at Alumni Field at 3 p.m. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.
