There will be a lot to see for the 5,500 campus visitors expected this Saturday for the annual University-wide open house May @ Mac.

Situated on 300 acres of land in between the communities of Westdale and Dundas, McMaster boasts a number of unique buildings, state-of-the-art facilities, award-winning faculty and innovative students.

“Choosing a university can be overwhelming, that's why it's important to take some time to check out the campus and find out what we have to offer,” says Candy Hui, liaison officer in the Student Recruitment Office. “McMaster has a beautiful campus, and May is a great time to explore its grounds.”

If you're planning on attending May @ Mac, here are some things you should be sure to do:

Tour state-of-the-art facilities

A simulated trading floor, a new athletic centre, a motion simulator, cutting-edge classrooms – McMaster has a number of world-class facilities that should not be missed. You can also take a 30 minute bus tour of campus, led by a student guide.

Take in special lectures and demonstrations

McMaster has great faculty members, including winners of the 3M Teaching Fellowship, Canada's highest teaching award. There will be many presentations and lectures throughout the day, including the “What's Next!” info session, which will teach students how to register for courses.

Visit our residences

There are three types of residences at McMaster, so it's important to visit all of them before you submit your application. When you visit, take note of Les Prince Hall, one of the first student residences in Canada to be LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certified.

“Make sure you ask lots of questions while you're here,” recommends Hui. “It's a great opportunity to learn as much as possible while physically being on campus. Take advantage of it!”
