This weekend will be a busy one for McMaster sports fans.

The action gets started tonight when the women's basketball team plays its first home
game at Burridge Gym, hosting Cape Breton at 7 p.m.

On Friday at 11:30 a.m. varsity athletes and supporters will descend on the Student Centre
for a pep rally celebrating fall and winter athletics, while the men's and women's volleyball
squads will play their home openers Friday evening at the Burridge Gym. Both teams play
Laurier.

Saturday will see the first-ever playoff game played at Ron Joyce Stadium as the Marauders
football team takes on Queen's in a quarter-final matchup scheduled for 1 p.m. The
women's soccer team will also kick off its playoff campaign Saturday at 6 p.m., while the
men's cross-country and rowing teams will both compete in the Ontario University
Athletics championships.

“It's shaping up to be a great weekend for McMaster athletics,” said Jeff Giles, director of
Athletics & Recreation. “I encourage the entire community to get out and support the
Marauders, no matter what the sport. Many of our teams are in the hunt for
championships, and others are just kicking off seasons that I'm sure will ultimately be
successful, so it's a very exciting time.”
